Education Studies is an exciting degree that provides a first step for those who want to pursue a career in education but unsure which direction to take. Drawing on a range of disciplines including sociology, psychology, philosophy, history, policy and politics, you are enabled to explore the transformational nature of education and reflect on your learning during placements in each year and optional overseas opportunities. Our students leave us pursuing a range of careers including teaching, research, special educational needs, museums and mentoring or go on the postgraduate study.
This course gives you the foundation that you need for any career related to education or young people. Many graduates go on to Initial Teacher Training, taking the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or School Direct route to becoming a qualified teacher. Other graduates work with charities or go onto Master’s level study in such areas as MA Education, MA in Social Work, MSc in Child and Adolescent Mental Health or MSc in Counselling.
