Program Description

MSc in Sport Analytics has been designed and developed by Scotland FA's Football Scientist Dr Alireza Monajati to meet the growing demands of Data in the sports industry. During the programme you will learn how statistical and visual analytics are informing stakeholders to make data-driven decisions in sport. You will utilize industry-standard visualization software such as Tableau and PowerBI, and have the opportunity to learn fundamental skills with programming languages such as Python and R, whilst being fully supported all the way. 

Due to the importance of gaining industry experience, our course offers the unique opportunity to gain a work placement during your studies. We have an in-house dedicated work placement team that will help you find an opportunity that suits your career aspirations.  Located in the heart of London, we have a range of partnerships and connections that will give you the opportunity to network with employers within the industry. Previously we have had guest lectures from Southampton Football Club, West Ham United and Sky Sports. A career in sport analytics can lead to multiple roles in a wide range of exciting settings with amazing opportunities for career progression. You might be employed directly by a professional sports club to work with their coaching or scouting staff or work for one of the many businesses that elite teams and individual athletes approach for consultancy. Job titles may include Performance Analyst, Sport Analyst, Sport Scientist or Data Analyst.

You will develop your skills and knowledge in a directly applied context, further supported by industry experience through the placement module. This will ensure that you are 'employment ready' in your knowledge, skills and experience. The strong industry experience and contacts of our staff team also mean that you will be well-connected to potential jobs as they arise.

Admission Requirements

• Minimum of 2:1 honours in a sport, mathematics or computer science related area. 2:2 honours in related subject area will also be considered at the discretion of the course leader.
• Indian Students:-50% or above from the following Universities: Delhi; Mumbai; Pune; Kolkata; Chennai; Anna; Bharatiyar; MSU Baroda; Bangalore 55% or above from all other recognised institutions Universities we are aware of with different grading scales and required score:
  • Gujarat Technological University: CGPA 5.8
  • Amity University: CGPA 5.5
  • Kannur University: B or above. (A = 75 to 89, B+ = 60 to 74, B =50 to 59)
