Program Description
Combine your passion for events with management theory, to develop broad-based business skills and knowledge, in the context of the exciting event industry. From conferences and corporate events to wedding planning and charity fundraisers, the events industry is big business. By studying Event Management at Coventry University, you’ll have the opportunity to be able to learn how to manage events, and get the chance to apply theory to practice throughout your course.
- Gain the skills and knowledge necessary for organising successful, memorable and safe events, and explore a broad range of highly transferable management skills, particularly in the area of leadership and project management.
- Get hands-on experience managing live events, with opportunities available across a range of sectors and prepare for the fast-paced and exciting events industry, with the course having a strong practitioner focus based on real world working problems.
- Learn how to apply business principles, such as financial management, marking theory and strategic management to the solution of event management problems.
Upon successful completion, you will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the holistic nature of a business organisation and how to apply business principles associated with the operational and strategic management of financial, marketing, human and physical resources to events.
- Analyse and produce event management solutions to appropriate business decisions.
- Apply skills of critical inquiry and independent research, using a range of resources, methods and methodologies, to evaluate evidence, arguments and assumptions, to reach sound judgements and to communicate them effectively.
- Recognise and continually develop a relevant set of transferable skills required by the event industry such as numeracy, communication and self-reflection for continuous professional development.
- Evaluate and develop expertise in a range of digital technologies that will enhance effectiveness in the workplace.
- Apply innovative and entrepreneurial approaches in providing solutions to real event management issues and problems.
- Critique the principles of policy and governance and evaluate the global contemporary issues and theories challenging event organisations.
- Work effectively, efficiently and dynamically within teams using critical thinking to solve complex event management problems.
- Evaluate the management of events in global settings and reflect upon intercultural and international dimensions.
- Use the principles of responsible management to design and implement activities which meaningfully engage communities.
Admission Requirements
- Indian Students-Students who have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate with a minimum GPA of 3.5 or the Equivalent to 65% of total GPA.
- Arab Students need to meet any of the following-
- Students who hold an International Baccalaureate (IB) from High School with a minimum score of 30 overall.
- Students who have 3 A-level passes with a minimum grade of C or above.
- Students who hold a Diploma with 2.5 GPA out of 4 or 3.0 CGPA out of 5 (subject to syllabus match).
- Students who completed American high school should have 2 APs with 2 points or higher.
- Students who hold Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations or Central Board of Secondary Education.
