Program Description

This exciting degree explores the most topical and significant contemporary issues, including the workings of power across society; the mechanisms that shape inequalities; national and international perspectives on children’s lives; the distribution of public and private goods; human rights; and individual and collective responsibility in a global world.

The course gives you an initial foundation in key areas of sociology, education and contemporary childhood experience across different settings – family, community and educational. It also includes opportunities to study children’s lives from international perspectives, particularly in relation to children’s rights and schooling. From your second year of study, you can choose to specialise in a specific area, building towards a career in teaching, social work or another social science profession. Optional units may include teaching practice and educational philosophy; families and communities; children and young people’s wellbeing; children and the media.

  • Learn to apply theory to real-life social and educational decision-making, policy and practice, with underpinning exploration of social inequality, mobility and justice
  • Consolidate your understanding of theory through a range of creative assessments such as poster presentations, case studies, group debates, essays and a summer exhibition

Admission Requirements

  • Indian Students:-Year 12 with 55% overall.
  • Arab Students:- Any of the following:-
    • 2 A level passes (minimum C and D)
    • International Baccalaureate (24 points)
    • A recognised Foundation degree

Remarks:

Indian Students IELTS Waiver: - 

  • At least 70% marks in English language course in Higher Secondary School.
  • Punjab and Haryana Boards will not get IELTS waive off.
