Master of Arts in Communication Studies

Program Description

The primary focus of the Master of Arts in Communication Studies program is to provide the fundamentals of communication theories and enable students to acquire the ability to understand and use basic methods of communication research. The curriculum focuses on personal relationships, the small group, our society, dynamics of interpersonal communication, persuasion, health communication, intercultural communication, organizational authority and efficiency, the impact of social movements, the history of rhetoric, and family communications. The College of Liberal Arts and Communication provides innovative educational opportunities that will enable lifelong learning, professional leadership, and engaged lives.

Admission Requirements

  • Achieved a minimum cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.00 scale or a 3.00 GPA on the last 60 hours.
  • Achieved a minimum 3.00 GPA on any previous graduate courses completed at either Arkansas State University or another accredited university.
