MS Applied Mathematics

Program Description

The Department of Mathematics is committed to excellence in teaching, attracting and supporting outstanding students, and maintaining high quality instructional programs at the graduate level. Graduate students have the opportunity to work with faculty in the pursuit of graduate research projects that cover a wide range from applied to theoretical mathematics. 

In an effort to accommodate working professionals pursuing an advanced degree, the department offers late afternoon, evening and online classes on a regular basis. Internship opportunities give students professional experiences with real-life mathematics and improve marketability in the work force.

Admission Requirements

Students must:

  • hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university,
  • have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (based on a 4.0 scale) on all undergraduate work,
  • Submit two applications: (1) Graduate application and (2) Program application (Spring 2023) through the UTC application portal.
  •  If an applicant is also applying for an assistantship, GRE Verbal and Quantitative scores must also be submitted.
