Program Description

Make a difference in a child’s life with a Master of Arts in Teaching. Both our early childhood and childhood MAT programs culminate in dual degrees in regular and special education, and focus on preparing you to teach in an urban environment like New York. The Early Childhood or Childhood Urban Education/Special Education graduate program leading to a Master of Arts in Teaching program is designed for students who have a bachelor’s degree, have completed 60 credits in liberal arts and are interested in pursuing a career in education. This program is also applicable to certified teachers looking for initial/professional certification in a different certificate area. This program offers an integrated combination of rigorous academic study and clinically rich fieldwork focusing on the needs of all learners. 

Admission Requirements

  • Transcript of your undergraduate degree from an accredited college, with an earned overall GPA of 3.0
  • Professional resume
  • Personal statement about why you want to become a teacher
  • Two letters of reference attesting to your character and positive dispositions to become a teacher and advocate for students and families
  • Personal interview
