Program Description

The Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Mount Union prepares students for careers in biological sciences, develops appreciation for the living world, and provides students with skills to critically analyze issues of science and society. The biology degree has two concentrations, Biomedical and Applied Bioscience, to allow customization of training. The University’s general education program, the Integrative Core, emphasizes additional written and oral communication skills. Together these aid students in preparation for future employment or graduate programs.

Students have hands-on learning opportunities:

• Laboratories to learn biological techniques
• Field trips to experience biology outside of the classroom (Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center, zoos, aquaria, Lake Erie, Florida Keys)
• Research projects mentored by Department faculty
• Advanced training through off-campus internships

Admission Requirements

• An applicant should have at least a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale to be considered for admission
