Program Description

The Bachelor of Arts degree in finance at the University of Mount Union requires courses in financial practice and theory, while also giving students the opportunity to put their knowledge, talent, and skills to the test by investing real money in stocks through a student-run investment team. Mount Union’s finance degree offers real-world experience, the chance to expand understanding of the industry, and expose students to a wide range of career possibilities. Finance majors at Mount Union will also sample a variety of business courses, including micro and macroeconomics, statistics, accounting, marketing, and management. The finance degree requires 128 credit hours of coursework, with 62-64 hours taken in the major. Additionally, the University’s general education program, the Integrative Core, allows students to explore areas of study outside their field of interest while developing essential leadership and communication skills that employers value. Experiential learning opportunities will give you many chances to put classroom knowledge to work. These opportunities, which supplement classroom learning, include:

• Internships at for-profit and non-profit organizations
• Seminar at the Chicago Mercantile
• Foreign exchange trading account project
• Individual or collaborative research opportunities with faculty
• Membership in Mount Union’s chapter of Delta Mu Delta, a business honorary, and the Investment Team

• An applicant should have at least a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale to be considered for admission
