The Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of Mount Union provides a foundation for students’ futures. Our faculty invite students to explore, through close textual analysis, a broad range of historical themes, ideas, and peoples. History faculty work with students to develop students’ research, writing, and oral communication skills, as well as to grow as independent, critical thinkers. The Department of History develops and maintains an academic curriculum that helps students attain a broad base of knowledge in history and acquire the intellectual and communication skills necessary to the field.
The history major offers multiple experiential learning opportunities for students to apply classroom knowledge to real-world applications. Some opportunities include field trips to historical and cultural sites, volunteer work at the Haines House Underground Project in Alliance, and participation in regional and local conferences.
