Program Description

The Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry (Concentration in Information Technology) at St. Francis College is designed to expose the student to computational resources which would enable knowledge of collecting, disseminating, and analyzing observational or experimental data, or data from models or simulations in scientific research.

Chemistry is fundamental to our understanding and exploration of the natural world, and to solving the medical, health and environmental problems that we currently face as a society. Chemistry is sometimes called the “central science,” because it connects other scientific disciplines to each other, such as biology, physics, geology, and neuroscience. There are many reasons to study chemistry, even if you aren’t pursuing a career in science. The Chemistry and Physics department at St. Francis College instructs students in chemical theory and in developing hands-on experience in both classical and instrumental techniques, preparing majors for careers in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries as well as for graduate and professional school.Underlying the focused, outcomes-driven curriculum is SFC’s robust General Education Program, which is the cornerstone of SFC and affirms its mission to graduate educated, well-rounded individuals who enter the workforce and work to change and culturally diversify the world.

Admission Requirements

• Students who have achieved a high school GPA of 71 or above will be fully admitted to the institution (with the exception of the nursing program).
• Students who have a GPA between 65 and 70 may participate in our conditional admittance program on a case-by-case basis.
