Program Description

The Master of Finance degree delivers the specialized skills and expertise needed to succeed in the fast-growing, complex asset management industry. Cutting-edge knowledge of best practices and ethics as well as a full range of strategies is essential to thrive in the industry. Students will move through a one-year, on-campus, 10-course curriculum (30 credits) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Whether you are applying straight from an undergraduate program, switching your career focus, or seeking to deepen your knowledge of Asset Management, the Isenberg Master of Finance (MF) will provide you with the knowledge you need to thrive in the field of Asset Management and broaden your network of finance professionals. The one-year program, with 10 courses or 30 credits, is designed for those with some quantitative background in such subjects as calculus and statistics.

The MF degree offered on the Amherst campus is ideal for international students. The STEM OPT classification allows students to extend their time in the U.S. to gain practical work experience, and the CPT requirements allow them to accept paid internships. Admission Requirements

  • A GPA of 3.0 required in undergraduate degree
  • A GMAT/GRE waiver is granted for an overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher. To be considered for the GMAT/GRE waiver, leave the application test score section blank. If you are a working professional and don’t meet the GPA qualification, waivers may be considered for individuals with professional work experience.
  • Undergraduate degrees in sciences, engineering, mathematics, and in some economics and business programs are recommended.
