Program Description

Offering a thesis and non-thesis Master of Science option as well as a Doctor of Philosophy degree, the graduate programs in Mechanical Engineering at UMass Amherst allow you to explore collaborative and interdisiciplinary research with faculty and peers in best-in-class facilities. Focus on topics in fluid dynamics and wind energy, bioengineering, dynamics & controls, materials engineering, and manufacturing in 35 active research labs and with state-of-the-art equipment in the new Life Sciences Laboratory building. The Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering is a 30-credit program, and may be entered into by qualified students with Bachelor of Science degrees from any engineering discipline, metallurgy or materials, physics, or mathematics.
