The M.S. in Sustainability Science (MS3) program trains you to be an integrated thinker ready to tackle the socio-environmental challenges of the 21st century. You’ll build a foundation in ecological systems, urban and social systems, and policy and economics, as well as specialize in Urban Sustainability, Renewable Energy and Efficient Design, Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems, Water Sustainability and Climate Change, or Environmental Quality. You’ll also apply your educational training in a real-world, professional setting through a culminating internship. Increasing focus on interconnected social, environmental, and economic challenges is spurring a growing demand for sustainability professionals. Here at UMass Amherst, the MS in Sustainability Science (MS3) is training the next generation of interdisciplinary problem solvers to be leaders in advancing this transition. By preparing students with integrated systems-based approaches, cross-disciplinary foundations, specialized expertise, and applied training, our graduates are ready for sustainability-focused careers in industry, academia, government, and the non-profit sector.
