Program Description

Western Michigan University's Cybersecurity program prepares you to prevent data breaches, cyberattacks and online threats. Interactive trainings, real-world projects and security-related certifications give you the required skills to enter the workforce as a competent cybersecurity professional.

Designed with industry feedback, this degree qualifies you for positions such as security analyst, cybersecurity manager, secure software developer, cybersecurity specialist, threat hunter, artificial intelligence security specialist, blockchain developer, penetration tester, cloud security analyst, network administrator, cybersecurity consultant and many more. You will also stay informed about changing global cyber regulations and threat landscapes in order to identify and recommend specific solutions for evolving cyber threats. WMU's bachelor's degree in cybersecurity gives you the frameworks and tools to detect vulnerabilities and ensure information security.

Admission Requirements

Your transcript is the most important piece of information.  It shows what courses you’ve taken and your grades, which allows us to assess:

  • Academic Preparation.  Successful students are prepared students and we want to make sure you’re ready for the rigors of college-level work.  We recommend*:
    -  4 years of English
    -  3-4 years of math (through second year algebra or pre-calculus)
    -  3 years of natural sciences (two or more with a lab component)
    -  2 years of the same foreign language
  • Grade Point Average.
  • Grade Trend.  How well you’ve done in your most recent courses.
