Program Description

Western Michigan University's Health Administration program prepares students to work successfully in health-related environments in managerial and administrative roles. This cross-disciplinary program includes coursework in the College of Health and Human Services and the Haworth College of Business. Topic areas include the U.S. health care system, population and community health, cultural competence and diversity, organizational development and organizational behavior theory, management in health organizations, operations assessment and improvement, management of human resources and health professionals, information systems management and assessment, healthcare law, governance, health policy, leadership, statistical analysis and application to decision making, health economics, post-acute care, healthcare marketing, financial analysis and management,  ethics in business and clinical decision-making, strategy formulation and implementation, and quality assessment for patient care improvement.

This program will provide you with:

  • A minor in general business along with your HA major
  • Hands-on experience in a health organization during your internship

Admission Requirements

Your transcript is the most important piece of information.  It shows what courses you’ve taken and your grades, which allows us to assess:

  • Academic Preparation.  Successful students are prepared students and we want to make sure you’re ready for the rigors of college-level work.  We recommend*:
    -  4 years of English
    -  3-4 years of math (through second year algebra or pre-calculus)
    -  3 years of natural sciences (two or more with a lab component)
    -  2 years of the same foreign language
  • Grade Point Average.
  • Grade Trend.  How well you’ve done in your most recent courses.

  • I20(Visa Letter) can be obtained only after submitting a bank statement with a balance of USD $33,688.
