UD's School of Education offers an Ed.S. (educational specialist) program in school psychology and a Ph.D. program in education with a specialization in school psychology. The two closely interrelated programs train students in (1) direct intervention skills, including counseling, (2) psychoeducational evaluation of children using a variety of assessment and diagnostic approaches, (3) prevention, (4) consultation with parents, teachers, and school administrators, and (5) evaluation and research in school settings.
A master of arts degree is earned upon completion of the first 30 credit hours of coursework, and the educational specialist degree is earned upon completion of an additional 30 credit hours that includes 1200 hours of school-based internship(s) during the third year in the program.
