Program Description

Journalism and Mass Communication studies focus on examining the development of modern media systems and their impact on society. Humans rely on sweeping channels of communication -- such as television, newspaper, radio, and the Web -- to reach their intended audience. Journalism and mass communication is an interdisciplinary approach that studies how societies communicate with the masses to transmit information and entertainment. Our graduate journalism and mass communication program allows students to understand the relationship between media products and its audiences and to analyze how media contribute and respond to political, cultural and social change.

Admission Requirements

• The minimum GRE (Vrb/Quant) 153 for unconditional admission. The University of Houston offers a GRE Waiver program for applicants who have completed their bachelor’s degree at the University of Houston in the last three years with a minimum of 3.4 undergraduate GPA
