Master's in School Counseling

Program Description

The Master's in School Counseling (SC) program prepares counselor candidates to support and advocate on behalf of the learning and social-emotional needs of children and adolescents in K-12 schools. The intensive, field-based MA in school counseling curriculum prepares every candidate to work democratically with diverse students and families. The program leads to an Illinois school counselor credential. You’ll develop the skills needed to foster academic growth and socio-emotional well-being in children and adolescents. You can expect focused and practical assignments, engaging and intensive discussions and small group projects, and multiple opportunities to complete field experiences that allow you to develop your skills and strategies in PreK-12 schools and classrooms. You’ll develop greater self-awareness, as well as the ability to collaborate with others to surmount obstacles.

Admission Requirements

  • A GPA of 3.0 is required in undergraduate degree.
