Program Description

With a master’s in secondary education, you can address the learning and socio-emotional needs of adolescents in grades 9 through 12.  This intensive, field-based program prepares you to work democratically with diverse children and families in biology, business, chemistry, English, history and math. The degree leads to a combination of Illinois teaching credentials. Teaching is a rewarding profession, but requires a lot of commitment and preparation. You can expect focused and practical assignments, engaging discussion, small group projects, and field experiences in diverse high schools.

Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 2.7 grade point average. An undergraduate major in your content area (biology, business, chemistry, English, history or math) is recommended, but not required.
  • No GRE required.
