Program Description

Information Systems (IS) is an academic discipline focused on the systems used to collect, organize, store, and process information. The major encompasses two broad areas: 1) acquisition, deployment and management of information technology (IT) resources and 2) development of information systems infrastructure to support an organization’s processes. Students in the IS major are prepared for careers such as: Systems Analyst, Business Analysts, Software Developer, Software Implementation Specialist, Database Administrator, Information Security Analyst, IT Support, IT Project Manager, Systems Administrator, Web Developer. Skills developed within this major include: Ability to solve business problems using information technology; Critical thinking; Communication skills; Project management; Technology management; Computer programming; Database.
