Program Description

The M.Sc. in Renewable Energy Systems is designed to produce graduates with a good theoretical and practical understanding of renewable energy technologies. The programme critically investigates the energy output from wind, solar, ocean and biomass technologies from a technical and economic viewpoint.

The primary aim of the M.Sc. in Renewable Energy Systems is to produce effective engineers and technical workers for a professional career in energy and, in particular, renewable energy.

Career Options

Graduates of the M.Sc. in Renewable Energy Systems programme will be equipped with the skillset and knowledge for crucial roles in research, design and development in companies in the energy sector. 

Graduates from this programme have obtained employment from a vast variety of companies throughout Ireland and further afield. Also, some graduates have decided to pursue further study in the energy domain to PhD level, at Dundalk Institute of Technology and other universities.

Admission Requirements

A second-class honours degree (2.2) in an engineering or science discipline is an essential requirement. Candidates with alternative qualifications are also encouraged to apply.

The closing date for applications is usually June 20th each year; however, applications may still be considered after this date. Depending on the number of applications, candidates may be short-listed, i.e. a qualified applicant is not automatically guaranteed a place.
