Program Description

Graduates of the MEng in Mechanical Engineering will possess an advanced level of theoretical and practical knowledge, with highly developed research capability and innovation skills to enable their professional development as leaders in the industry. Four taught modules per semester, aimed at providing the student with specialist knowledge, are undertaken along with the Research Project module.

The Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering program is a professionally oriented master’s degree program that provides advanced knowledge and experiential opportunities beyond that of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. This programme provides a detailed knowledge of advanced methods in Mechanical Engineering including theoretical foundations, and computational and experimental methods. Furthermore, a focus is placed on applying the knowledge and skills gained through the programme to real challenges within the manufacturing and mechanical engineering sectors.

The programme has been designed to provide a flexible route to master's qualification and is available full-time (two days per week for one year) modes with significant focus placed on the research dissertation, completed over the duration of the course.

The course comprises of 60 ECTS Credits of taught modules and 30 ECTS Credits for the research dissertation. Students will have the option to carry out the research dissertation on a specific topic, relevant to the program of study, informed by their particular background or areas of interest.
