BA (Hons) in International Tourism Management

Program Description

This new Level 8 course in International Tourism Management is designed to prepare graduates to become effective managers in the tourism industry. Tourism specific modules will develop an understanding of the complex issues facing a contemporary national and international tourism industry, while business and management modules will develop critical transferable skills in business, marketing, management, finance and data analysis.

The BA (Hons) in International Tourism Management will provide a pathway for those wishing to pursue a career in the vibrant, worldwide, tourism industry.

Tourism is one of the world’s largest worldwide industries and is forecast as one of the fastest-growing global sectors. In Ireland, tourism is seen as one of the most important economic sectors with significant potential to contribute to Ireland’s continued growth, with forecasted growth in employment to 250,000 by 2025 (Irish Tourism Industry Confederation).

Career Options

Undergraduate students who will successfully complete the course will have the opportunity to achieve two additional qualifications awarded by the American Hotel & Lodging Association qualification - Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics (CHIA) and Certification in Advanced Hospitality and Tourism Analytics (CAHTA).

The tourism industry is large and diverse, and there is a wealth of opportunities across a variety of sectors. There are numerous careers options for graduates working towards a variety of positions in or related to sales and marketing, product planning, operations, ICT, distribution, human resources, events, and finance. Typical positions including Travel consultant, Tourism officer, Reservations agent, Tour guide, Tourist Information Centre manager, Tour operator or Operations manager.

Successful graduates from the BA in International Tourism Management can progress to an MSc in several areas including Tourism Management, Tourism Marketing, Business Management and Disaster Management.

Admission Requirements

Garde 12 with a minimum of 55% from a CBSE, State board or equivalent. Subjects must include English and Mathematics.

Remarks:

The first 150 students who apply will receive free accommodation for the first year. The student will receive a rebate of Euros 1400 on the room rent of the second and third year.
