This course is designed to provide Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering graduates, and graduates from closely related disciplines, with specialised skills and knowledge in technical design for Sustainable Infrastructure. The course consists of 12 taught modules and a Research Project module, and focuses on sustainability, water engineering, numerical techniques, renewable and sustainable technologies and transport planning with options in advanced structural engineering.
The programme award is a Master of Engineering (ME) Degree, with an option to exit the course with a Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip). Graduates of the course will be ideally suited to engage in sustainable engineering research, analysis, and design.
Career Options
Graduates of the course will be equipped with advanced knowledge and a range of analytical and critical thinking skills which qualify them to undertaking energy, water, transport, structure, and geotechnic cutting-edge designs of critical sustainable infrastructures at international standards.
The graduates will also be exposed to a number of modelling software to allow them taking up a modelling career in the field of sustainable infrastructure. Besides that, the graduates will be capable to engage in various research and development (R&D) activities related to sustainable infrastructure.
For acceptance onto the course an applicant must hold one of the following:
1. An honours bachelor degree, with a minimum attainment of second class honours grade 2, in Civil/Structural/Environmental Engineering or a closely-related discipline. The degree should be of four years duration and accredited by the relevant professional body.
2. Any qualification(s) deemed by the TU Dublin as being equivalent to No. 1 above, when taken in conjunction with relevant work experience.
