Program Description

The strength and conditioning major prepares entry-level practitioners with a solid foundation of knowledge and theory as well as practical application of strength and conditioning (or personal training) methods. The University of Findlay is one of a select group of schools in the United States that offer a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) recognized program. A bachelor's degree in strength and conditioning can well prepare you with the pre-requisites for a future career as:

• Strength & Conditioning Specialist
• Sports Performance Enhancement Coach
• NCAA Strength Coach
• High School or Prep-School Strength Coach
• Graduate Study (Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Exercise Science)​​​

The strength and conditioning major is a progressive depth of study in sports science and training theory throughout the curriculum. Upon successful completion of the professional program, you will earn a Bachelor of Science in strength and conditioning. You will also be well prepared to sit for the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) examination and others, such as the Certified Special Populations Specialist (CSPS) or the Certified Personal Training (NSCA-CPT) examinations​.​

Admission Requirements

• High school grades (minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average) and class rank;
• American College Test (ACT) (minimum 20 composite ACT) or Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) (minimum 950 composite SAT) scores;
  • for those students unable to take the ACT or SAT due to COVID-19 closing testing centers, the following criteria will be used:
    • An Academic Letter of Recommendation;
    • A graded writing sample of previous academic work;
    • An interview with University Admissions personnel;
