Program Description

The Bachelor of Commerce with Honours (BCom(Hons)) degree is a postgraduate programme which can be taken by meritorious students. The degree involves intensive study, culminating with the completion of a research dissertation.To be admitted, students must have completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in the subject or subjects of study proposed, with an average grade of at least B+ for the appropriate 300-level papers. In most cases, specific papers must have been passed as part of or in addition to the major subject requirements in the BCom programme. The Honours programme must be completed in one year of full-time study.

A student with an Honours degree in one subject may take a second Honours degree in a different subject, and Combined Honours programmes (including papers from two subjects) are also possible.For specific information regarding studies and prerequisite matters, please contact the department for the Major(s) you wish to enrol in within the BCom(Hons) programme.

Admission Requirements

  • Indian Students:-Minimum overall average of 75% in the All India Senior School Examination (CBSE) or Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) with a minimum of 70% in English.
  • Bangladesh, Iran, & UAE Students:-One year of successful study at a recognised institution of university standing, or successful completion of a University of Otago Foundation Year programme or equivalent.
