The key answer is because you are interested in, and motivated by, the science that will allow us to improve human health. Our Nutrition and Metabolism in Human Health students have a reputation for excellence and are sought-after by a wide range of employers both here in New Zealand and overseas.

This major focuses on the biochemistry and metabolism of essential nutrients, including carbohydrates, fats, protein, vitamins and minerals, with an emphasis on human health and disease across the lifecycle. Topics covered include nutritional assessment, energy balance, and the role of nutrition in the development and treatment of chronic disease.

Admission Requirements

• Indian Students:-Minimum overall average of 75% in the All India Senior School Examination (CBSE) or Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) with a minimum of 70% in English.
• Bangladesh, Iran, & UAE Students:-One year of successful study at a recognised institution of university standing, or successful completion of a University of Otago Foundation Year programme or equivalent.
