Program Description

Interested in emerging areas of medical and health science and how they can improve human and animal health? Study the Biomedical Science major in the Bachelor of Science. Biomedical science and biotechnology have revolutionised research over the past decade, stimulating growth in industries like agriculture, pharmaceuticals, veterinary science and medical research. Biomedical science is the most rapidly developing area in biological sciences, and demand for biomedical graduates is expected to grow.

You gain an understanding of fundamental physiology and biomedical research, working with the latest laboratory techniques and equipment. AUT has specialist biomedical labs with analytical equipment not available at any other New Zealand university.

Admission Requirements

Bangladesh Students

• One year of successful study towards an undergraduate degree at a recognised institute.

India Students

• 12 years of schooling with an overall average of 75% in four academic subjects, including a min 60% in English from All-India Senior Certificate (AISSC) - Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CBSC), or Indian School Certificate (ISC) - Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), or Indian State Boards - Karnataka, Maharashtra or West Bengal State Board Examinations.
• All other Higher Secondary State Board Examinations require an overall average of 80% in four academic subjects with a min 65% in English.

Arab Students

• One year of successful study towards an undergraduate degree at a recognised institute; or
• Successful completion of a diploma at a recognised college of technology; or
• Successful completion of a junior health diploma at a recognised tertiary institution; or
• Successful completion of a higher technical institute diploma at a recognised tertiary institution.
