Program Description

Explore advanced level topics in economics and research an area of your interest with the Economics specialisation in the Master of Business. If you're doing postgraduate study in economics, you'll work with your peers and with academic staff who have been involved in applied research projects for government agencies around the world and international agencies like the IMF. The AUT School of Economics conducts research in a range of areas, including the effects of international trading arrangements, optimal regulation of labour and other markets, and the use of big data in social programmes.

Class sizes are small and each student has an individual academic supervisor. Many of our postgraduate economics students also work part-time as tutors or research assistants. As part of your studies you learn how to use sophisticated statistical software to analyse business, financial or social data – skills highly valued by many employers.

Admission Requirements

Completed one of the following or equivalent with a B grade average or higher in courses at level 7 or above:

  • Bachelor of Business OR
  • Graduate Diploma in Business
