Program Description

If you’re passionate about sport and exercise science and want to have an impact on future generations, the research skills you’ll develop on our MSc Sport and Exercise Science course will prepare you for a rewarding career. Our British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) accredited lab allows you to secure real-world experience and employability skills, working across a number of performance sport settings.

The five modules you cover will help you to understand and effectively communicate potential problems or issues faced by sport science and coaching practitioners so you can be proactive in dealing with them. You'll investigate and answer real-world problems across the broad area of sport using interdisciplinary team work. You’ll create a proposal on how you could solve a problem based in the area of sport, health, and exercise. You’ll then work to achieve this by transferring knowledge between disciplines and defend your choices of recommendations to a panel of academics, businesses and industry partners.

You'll develop an increasingly autonomous and critical approach to research so that you are able to draw conclusions using multiple sets of data, effectively compare and contrast data and use literature to support ideas and theories. You'll gain the skills you will need to develop your scientific voice and start working as a postgraduate researcher by exploring what makes a good research study and approaches you can take. You'll plan and carry out a research project.

Depending on your research focus, you could enter a career in broad multidisciplinary areas of sport and exercise science. For example, clinical biomechanics, exercise physiology, GP referral, performance, health and well-being sport etc. With our MSc course you’re in the perfect position to develop a number postgraduate transferable skills valued by employers from different industries.

Admission Requirements

A first degree with honours in a related subject and at a minimum final classification of Upper Second (2:1).

Remarks:

  • For IELTS Waiver - At least 65% marks in English in Higher Secondary School
  • The university will not accept a master's degree student for another master's degree course.
