Program Description

Computer Information Systems students study the way that computers are used to solve business problems in organizations. Students learn to design computerized information system solutions to fulfill organizational needs and solve business information problems by creating an effective database and application. Our comprehensive curriculum will prepare students to write efficient and functional programs, articulate the usage of software applications and functionality of the developed prototype, and analyze various aspects of information technology infrastructure design. 

Our graduates pursue a variety of career paths in rapidly growing industries, such as mathematics, information technology, computer information systems, computer science, information assurance and security. There is a constant need for innovative minds to devise solutions and address problems in these fields. Representative job titles include: 

• Programmer
• Web administrator
• Helpdesk specialist
• Systems analyst
• Database administrator
• Network engineer

Admission Requirements

• Official academic transcripts and/or Foreign Academic Credential Evaluation (FACE)* for all foreign transcripts. Evaluations of foreign transcripts are accepted from any NACES or AICE member such as WES, IFCS, Scholaro, or SpanTran.
• Mercy College takes a holistic approach in reviewing each student’s application. In the admission decision, we review a student’s transcript and academic record, including the courses taken and the grades attained. Other factors considered include the written essay, letters of recommendation, leadership potential, extracurricular and service-related activities.
• We do not require ACT or SAT for international undergraduate students
