Bachelor of Science Criminal Justice: Forensic Investigations
Program Description
Develop a foundation in criminal profiles, managing and documenting evidence, and the justice system. Criminal Justice is a challenging, exciting and rewarding career. The 4-year Criminal Justice major will prepare you for the profession, help you advance if you’re already in it, and/or also prepare you for graduate school. Among the areas covered by the Forensic Investigations concentration are:
- analyzing crime scenes to determine evidence to be collected
- taking photographs of the crime scene and evidence
- creating records of observations and findings
- learning to collect evidence, including weapons, fingerprints, and bodily fluids
- learning to catalog and preserve evidence for transfer to crime labs
- reconstructing crime scenes
Admission Requirements
- Official academic transcripts and/or Foreign Academic Credential Evaluation (FACE)* for all foreign transcripts. Evaluations of foreign transcripts are accepted from any NACES or AICE member such as WES, IFCS, Scholaro, or SpanTran.
- Mercy College takes a holistic approach in reviewing each student’s application. In the admission decision, we review a student’s transcript and academic record, including the courses taken and the grades attained. Other factors considered include the written essay, letters of recommendation, leadership potential, extracurricular and service-related activities.
- We do not require ACT or SAT for international undergraduate students
