Program Description

ARU is the place to be for studying Computer Games Technology. The East of England has 135 active games companies, with Cambridge home to developers including Jagex, Frontier Developments and Ninja Theory, who are based around the corner from Compass House our Computer Games Development studio. Based in Compass House, our gaming and technology hub, you'll enjoy having the latest technology at your fingertips and collaborating with other students on innovative projects. In the first year of your Computer Games Technology degree, you’ll be introduced to the many technologies used to implement a design for a video game. You’ll spend time looking into the development lifecycle of video games with a particular focus on the player experience and how game developers can shape this.

You’ll be introduced to the high-level programming knowledge a game developer needs, allowing you to create games that are robust and efficient – a critical requirement of the video games industry. You’ll also understand the principal components of high-level programming code, laying the foundation for other modules.

81% of the UK computer games industry is educated to at least undergraduate level, rising to 88% for core games production roles in art or programming. The skills and knowledge you acquire on our Computer Games Technology degree course will not only help you land a career in the gaming industry, but will also equip you with core programming skills transferable to the wider I.T. industry or a career in teaching.

Standard 12 with average of 55%-60%(depending on Board of Education)
