MSc Human Resource Management

Program Description

The course combines the theoretical knowledge you would expect at master's level with the practical elements you will need to succeed in your career. It has a strong emphasis on the behavioural and leadership skills that will make a positive difference, wherever you work. If you are a conscientious and committed professional looking for accreditation by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), you will join around 40 like-minded people from London, the UK, Europe and further afield. And, with our contacts and support, you will build a network that will help you throughout the rest of your career.

As someone dedicated to your own personal and professional development, you will benefit from this highly practical course and will be taught to specialise in all key HRM areas, including learning and development, employee relations and recruitment. On graduation, you will have associate membership of the CIPD and will have the knowledge component required to go for chartered CIPD status, which will really cement your professional standing. This masters is accredited to the Advanced level by the Charted Institute of Personnel and Development, ensuring you graduate with the practitioner skills you need for a career in HR. The CIPD also rates our students' Management Reports with the highest confidence, meaning your research will make a real impact on business outcomes. You will have a breadth and depth of knowledge that will make you an attractive proposition to employers, able to combine a theoretical and practical approach to make a positive difference.

You might choose to go down the generalist path, where your skills and talents will be put to use across the range of HRM disciplines. Or instead you might choose to focus on a specific area.  You could, for example focus on reward - ensuring the organisations retain the best staff - or on recruitment, making sure that companies attract and bring on board the best people for the job. This could be in-house or for a recruitment consultancy. You could also focus on training and development, making sure that staff have the right skills and qualities to make a telling contribution to any company. Good HRM staff are in demand and you might decide to go freelance or set up your own company. This qualification will increase your options significantly.
