MA Global Challenges: Law, Policy and Practice

Program Description

The Hillary Rodham Clinton Global Challenges Programme, supported by Sky, aims to facilitate international cooperation to address urgent national and transnational challenges. In partnership with Sky, this graduate scholarship initiative will develop the next generation of outstanding, forward-looking, real-world focused leaders in legal scholarship, activism and practice.

For our third cohort, who will commence their studies in January 2022, we are looking for five scholars to study any of the following topics:

  • Digital inclusion
  • Racial injustice
  • Children’s rights
  • Environment and climate change
  • Human rights

If you are accepted onto this master’s programme, you will receive a scholarship which covers the full tuition fee as well as a stipend of £15,000 to contribute towards your living costs.Scholars will demonstrate academic excellence alongside a creative, action-oriented approach to collaboration and partnership working. They will follow a one-year (12 months) Master of Arts degree in Global Challenges: Law, Policy and Practice. The degree programme is based on experiential learning, and includes a research project placement. Scholars will also benefit from a range of additional activities, including mentorship, guest speakers, visits and media training.

Admission Requirements

  • General requirement-
    • Indian Students-
      • Successful completion of a relevant Bachelors degree from a recognised institution with either a Second Class Upper Division or a Second Class Lower Division equivalent:
      • Second Class Upper Division equivalent: 60%; or CGPA 6.7 (10 point system); or CGPA 6 (7 point system); or CGPA 3 (4 point system) - including Standard XII in English - 70% or above (or equivalent).
      • Second Class Lower Division equivalent: 55% or CGPA 6.1 (10 point system) or CGPA 5.5 (7 point system) or CGPA 2.67 (4 point system) for institutes of national importance/LLB) including Standard XII in English - 70% or above (or equivalent).
    • Arab Students-Candidates are expected to have successfully completed a relevant Bachelors degree from a recognised institution with a minimum of a Second Class Lower Division: CGPA 2.5 (out of 4.0) or Grade C+ CGPA 3.5 (out of 5) or 75% or Grade C+ with IELTS 6.5 with 6.0 in each part of the test (or equivalent)
  • Candidates will hold a first class degree, either in law or in a relevant discipline (politics, PPE, Social Policy, Human Rights), with strong overall and individual module performance. Exceptional candidates with a good upper second class degree who can demonstrate relevant experience may also be considered.
