Program Description

English Literature and German with a Year Abroad degree is an exciting and challenging course, which opens up a range of career possibilities by helping you to develop transferable skills that employers value.

You can explore national and global literatures including Renaissance writings, Gothic and genre fiction, 19th century literature, contemporary fiction, gender and culture, creative and professional writing together with the language, culture, history, cinema and literature of modern Germany, Austria and Switzerland.We offer varied and flexible course content so that you can specialise in your preferred subjects and tailor your English Literature and German with a Year Abroad degree to your interests.

Course content ranges from national and global literatures, Renaissance, 19th century and contemporary literature, Gothic and genre fiction, creative and professional writing to German history, language, literature, film, translation and teaching. You will have an academic mentor if you need any pastoral or academic support and you have the chance to experience living in Germany for a year.

Admission Requirements

• Arab Students:- Candidates are expected to have achieved one of the following in the relevant curriculum:
  • Al-Thanawaya Al-Amah (GSEC): 60% overall including 60% in 5 relevant subjects
  • American High School: Minimum GPA 2.0 (70%)
  • Cambridge iGCSE: 5 passed with a minimum C grade average
  • IB Certificate: Min 20 Points and must pass mathematics
• Indian Students:-Candidates are expected to have achieved 70% Year XII including Standard XII in English - 70% or above (or equivalent).
