Program Description

If you love the beauty, precision, complexity and simplicity of mathematics, and like being challenged, then the Mathematics degree at Swansea University is the course for you.Our new three-year BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science will focus on the application of mathematical ideas and computational skills to cutting edge real world problems. This is an exciting field with rapid developments in areas such as modelling, graphics, security, data analysis, machine learning and artificial intelligence which are all underpinned by mathematical ideas. Through this degree students will not only learn about the theoretical foundations of such ideas, but also develop the practical skills in programming and problem solving that employers are looking for.

The new £32.5M Computational Foundry building at our Bay Campus gives students access to bespoke study and teaching spaces designed by and for mathematicians and computer scientists.Our Mathematics Reading Room provides a quiet study space for mathematics students, as well as housing a departmental library of resources for study and research, and our state of the art computer labs include a vision and biometric lab, maker lab, theory lab, cyber security/networking lab, user lab and visualisation suite.

Admission Requirements

• Arab Students:- Candidates are expected to have achieved one of the following in the relevant curriculum:
  • Al-Thanawaya Al-Amah (GSEC): 60% overall including 60% in 5 relevant subjects
  • American High School: Minimum GPA 2.0 (70%)
  • Cambridge iGCSE: 5 passed with a minimum C grade average
  • IB Certificate: Min 20 Points and must pass mathematics
• Indian Students:-Candidates are expected to have achieved 70% Year XII including Standard XII in English - 70% or above (or equivalent).
