Program Description

Medical Biochemistry is at the heart of modern medicine. It is crucial to the way we understand the causes and effects of disease and how we develop novel treatments.On this BSc programme, you will learn about the chemical processes that occur within living organisms and study how cells work at the sub-cellular and molecular levels.You’ll gain an in-depth understanding of the biochemical function of living organisms, particularly animals and humans.You will develop excellent project management skills and learn how to design experiments and plan work programmes.A degree in Medical Biochemistry opens up a range of exciting career opportunities in diverse fields including:

• Medicine and other health professions
• Pharmaceutical development
• Diagnostics
• Bioinformatics
• Veterinary sciences

This degree also provides an ideal base for further study to become a medical doctor and many of our students have gone on to study Graduate Entry Medicine at Swansea.  

Admission Requirements

• Arab Students:- Candidates are expected to have achieved one of the following in the relevant curriculum:
  • Al-Thanawaya Al-Amah (GSEC): 60% overall including 60% in 5 relevant subjects
  • American High School: Minimum GPA 2.0 (70%)
  • Cambridge iGCSE: 5 passed with a minimum C grade average
  • IB Certificate: Min 20 Points and must pass mathematics
• Indian Students:-Candidates are expected to have achieved 70% Year XII including Standard XII in English - 70% or above (or equivalent).
