Program Description

TESOL and English Literature degree, you will be able to gain the knowledge and skills to teach English as a second language, as well as exploring aspects of English literature from gothic fiction to creative writing.Teaching English is a great way to see the world and this degree will provide practical and transferable skills to open up a range of exciting career opportunities.During your three-year degree you’ll learn about theory and practice, language teaching methodology, vocabulary, grammar and meaning, psycholinguistics, first and second language acquisition and discourse analysis.You will also be able to study a semester in the USA, Hong Kong or Singapore – an exciting experience, which will further enhance your career prospects.Students on this course typically develop excellent oral and writing skills and you will learn to present your ideas in a range of formats, along with strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Admission Requirements

• Arab Students:- Candidates are expected to have achieved one of the following in the relevant curriculum:
  • Al-Thanawaya Al-Amah (GSEC): 60% overall including 60% in 5 relevant subjects
  • American High School: Minimum GPA 2.0 (70%)
  • Cambridge iGCSE: 5 passed with a minimum C grade average
  • IB Certificate: Min 20 Points and must pass mathematics
• Indian Students:-Candidates are expected to have achieved 70% Year XII including Standard XII in English - 70% or above (or equivalent).
