Program Description

When you study sociology, you learn all about people, relationships, and why we behave the way we do. And your degree will open lots of doors. Our grads go on to careers in medicine, business, law, marketing, politics, communications, social services, and public relations.

You see, human relationships with each one another are—well, it's complicated. But we're here to help you sort it all out. Our program is designed to help you understand human behavior in the real world. How? For starters, we'll teach you the basics such as theory, abnormal psychology, and mental health. Then, we'll help you choose a concentration that suits your goals. In the end, you can have a social understanding that'll give you a leg up throughout your career. Sociology is the scientific study of human behavior. If you want to understand social behavior in the real world, sociology is where you find the answers. From large-scale social processes occurring in the wider society beyond the individual to the dynamics of social interaction within small groups, sociology investigates the complexities of human social relationships. Regardless of your chosen career path, having a critical understanding of the social world will put you at the forefront of your career field!

Graduates of sociology have gone on to careers in administration and management (in government, private business, and nonprofit organizations), marketing, sales, politics, communications, social services (youth, senior, and poverty), corrections/investigation (local, state, and federal), and public relations, just to name a few.

Admission Requirements

Satisfactory completion of a secondary/high school diploma with an overall GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale; SAT or ACT may be required for some programs
