A theatre degree can give you performing arts experience as an actor, designer, stage manager, director, scriptwriter, costume and set designer, and much more. This degree could lead to a career in Hollywood, New York, or just about anywhere.
But before you see your name in lights, we first have to hone your talents and teach you about topics such as scenery, lighting, makeup, and even theatre history. But don't worry, we'll want to get you on the stage often during your education, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to put your new skills to use. In fact, with our state-of-the-art theatres and scene design shop, you'll have opportunities to participate in or create professional-level productions.The UAB Department of Theatre prepares you for a future in the performing arts. You can pursue academic options that prepare you for careers in acting, directing, musical theatre, and stagecraft.
Satisfactory completion of a secondary/high school diploma with an overall GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale; SAT or ACT may be required for some programs
