A healthy community doesn't just happen—it takes education, coaching, program development, and, most important, people who care to make a difference. At UAB, you'll gain a full understanding of the human body and prepare for a career helping others live healthy lives.
As you begin the program, we'll sit down with you to help you determine your career goals. Based on those goals, you'll choose a concentration of either community health or human services. In community health, you'll learn about policies, programs, anatomy, and nutrition for the well-being of both individuals and communities. If you choose human services, which is offered both online and on campus, we'll cover topics such as case management, public policy, and intervention. We offer the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Community Health and Human Services (CHHS). Students pursuing a B.S. in CHHS may choose a concentration in either Community Health (CH) or Human Services (HS). The CHHS program also offers minors in Community Health and Human Services to all UAB students. CHHS majors concentrating in Community Health can minor in Human Services; those concentrating in Human Services can minor in Community Health.
