Program Description

Do you love using technology to solve problems? Do you want a hands-on career in engineering design or production? As a mechanical engineering technology major, you will apply technology to create new products and systems or improve existing ones. In our mechanical engineering technology program — accredited by ABET — you will obtain the knowledge and practical experience for an exciting career in design, installation, manufacturing, testing, evaluation, technical sales or maintenance of mechanical systems. As a mechanical engineering technology student, you'll be able to:

• Complete a design capstone project in your senior year. Some examples of past capstone projects are motorized target systems for the University police, wind turbine design, design and improvement of systems for automotive and manufacturing industries, and many other interesting ones.
• Build race cars with CMU's Society of Automotive Engineers Baja Team or the Formula One team.
• Have opportunities to work with and gain research experience from faculty who are dedicated to enhance student learning experience.

Admission Requirements

• A GPA of 2.5 required in year 12th.
