Program Description

If you're looking to make a real difference in the world, especially in underserved communities, explore the important work of public health with a master's degree from CMU. Public health is one of the fastest-growing industries in the United States. Working in public health practice offers great personal fulfillment — preventing disease, prolonging life and promoting health. Our program is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). Our MPH degree is one of the few programs in the country with an emphasis on rural health and underserved communities. You'll be well prepared to manage and lead public health organizations and/or design culturally responsive behavioral and social interventions to address health challenges affecting populations across the state, country and the world.

Learn by doing with an in-depth skills-based education and field practice experiences. You'll be on the front line of today's most challenging health issues. You'll be a disease investigator, research analyst, epidemic preventer and problem solver. As a public health advocate, you'll help organize community efforts to improve wellness. You'll learn to apply systematic and analytic reasoning to evaluate the cause of disease and illness within a society.

Admission Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning. You must provide official documents including official transcripts of classes completed. If you have graduated from a Council for Education of Public Health (CEPH) certified program, you will have priority consideration for admission.
2. Applicants with an overall GPA of less than 3.0 may be considered for regular admission.
3. A resume that includes at least the following:

   • Professional experiences, memberships, and participation in professional activities.
