Master of Science Optical Sciences - Optomechanical Engineering (STEM)

Program Description

A Master of Science in Optical Sciences prepares students to enter exciting and challenging careers in industry or to continue their educations in the Ph.D. program.  The Optomechanical Engineering subplan is designed for students with backgrounds in optical engineering and mechanical engineering, who are interested in designing mechanical components, structures and mechanisms for optical systems.  In addition to component design, the Optomechanical Engineering subplan offers students the opportunity to gain experience in mechanical analysis, detailed analysis using finite element models, and design for fabrication, assembly, and test of optomechanical systems.

Admission Requirements

  • A minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00 based on a 4.00 scale, is required for admission to the Graduate College.
